Your FSA or HSA can help you save money on hearing aids
If you have a flexible spending account (FSA) or health savings account (HSA) through your employer, you can save money in those accounts tax-free and use it to pay for eligible health expenses, including deductibles, copayments, coinsurance, and other items like hearing aids.
How an FSA works
An FSA is owned by your company and is a “use it or lose it” account. The money your company deposits or you deposit from your paycheck or checking/savings account must be used in that same calendar year, or you will lose it. It does not roll over year to year. Check with your employer to see if they offer this type of account and if there is a grace period in place for using funds and submitting receipts after the end of the year.
There are a couple ways to pay for hearing aids with your FSA:
1.
Once you purchase your hearing aids with money out of pocket, you can submit a claim with a receipt to get reimbursed from your FSA account.
2.
Some accounts come with an FSA debit card that you can use to directly pay for medical expenses.

Yes. FSA/HSA money can be used on prescription and OTC hearing aids.
Typically, FSA dollars do not roll over to the next calendar year, but some plans do have grace periods. Each FSA account is different, so you should check with your employer to see if your FSA includes a grace period on when money needs to be spent and receipts need to be submitted.
Most FSA/HSA accounts cover OTC items, such as aspirin, bandaids, etc., so normally a regular receipt showing what you bought and paid will do. Each FSA and HSA account is different. Be sure to check with your employer to understand the details of your account.
